Our theme is birthday cards and here is mine

For this birthday card I have used the Happy Birthday chipboard title from Scrapware which was embossed with white Ranger embossing puffs.

The scallop edge on the bottom of the card was actually cropped from the Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine - Hopscotch paper which I adhered along the bottom of the card then cut along the scallop shape.
I also cropped one of the circle elements and layered this over the top with 3D foam to give it some dimension.  I then sanded the edges of the scallop paper to make the scallop edge stand out from the black cardstock background.
Other circle elements were cropped from the Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine – Blowing Bubbles paper and layered under the chipboard present embellishment.
To finish off I tied a bow using the white satin corrugated ribbon and adhered a silver lollipop charm just above it.
To add the bling I chopped one of the gorgeous rhinestone circles in half and placed them as shown on the card.

Birthday Album

In line with my2angels 2nd birthday celebrations, this a little birthday album I did of my Daughter’s 3rd birthday using the Buzz and Bloom chip album, which unfortunately are no longer but Tracy does have a few left of the other B&B albums in stock

I covered each page first in the October Afternoon Cherry Hill Tea Towel paper with the print side facing up. For the cover and back page I used Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine - Clover and then used the scraps from this throughout the inside pages. I also used the other Cosmo Cricket Hello Sunshine paper – Blowing Bubbles.

The chip balloons, cupcake and present were embossed in three different colours and whilst the powder was molten I embedded a few rhinestones to add some bling. The happy birthday title on the album cover was embossed with the super cool Ranger Puffs embossing powder.

Pretty much everything that you see on this album comes from my2angels store so here is a list:

Oh and quicky before I go have you seen the new TPC Boho Bloom papers Tracy got in yesterday?  Gorgeous!!!! I can't wait to get mine!  You will find them in the new arrivals section

Have fun!

my2angels Sketch Competition and win $20 voucher

Create a BIRTHDAY layout using BOTH of the following 2 criterias:

majority of products available from my2angels

and

Wendy's Sketch
For a chance to win $20 voucher to spend at my2angels

Upload your layout to the gallery  before August 31st to be eligible (please list their products used when uploading so everyone knows what can be created with them)

and here is my take on the challenge

It just so happens that it was also my daughter’s 3rd birthday a week or so ago so I had the perfect photos to use. Can I just say a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my2angels and congratulations Tracy for such a fantastic store!

OK now for the fun part..... Wendy’s sketch was really easy to use and allowed for heaps of personal creativity and flair. For the patterned paper blocks I used Fancy Pants Simplicity and Making Memories Cheeky range – Abby words.

If you look also underneath the photo there is a strip of the Making Memories Cheeky range – Abby Numbers. These are all on super special at the moment in store, so get there now before they go! For the number strip I cut about a 1.5cm strip but as my daughter turned 3, I actually manually cut around these and glazed them with dimensional magic to make them pop out. The edges of the Abby words paper were distressed with the ink blending tool and black soot ink.
There is also a tutorial on this technique if you haven’t used one before....they are fantastic by the way!

For the title I have used chipboard letters embossed with Black Glitter Zing. Other embellishments used for this sketch were the absolutely gorgeous Black flower ribbon slide.....OMG how stunning are these, heaps of sparkle power!! I simply slid this onto the hot pink corrugated satin ribbon, placed one long strip of double sided tape on the back and adhered the whole thing onto the LO.
This is the same ribbon I have used for the bow in the top right hand corner which was embellished also with a silver present charm.

Finally for the semi circle element on the bottom left hand corner of the sketch I gathered a small piece of the lime corrugated satin ribbon and stitched it with black embroidery thread.

Because I couldn’t help myself I also added to this little embellishment cluster a silver double star charm.

Have fun!

Adore you mum layout

This LO is of my beautiful Mum on my wedding day and was completed using the gorgeous new Imaginisce To Love and Cherish papers.

I absolutely love black and white so the theme for this month at my2angels of Black and White suited not only me, but also these papers perfectly.

The heart in the middle is the Scrapware filigree chipboard heart which was first painted white and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

Since completing this LO though Tracy has got in some cool new embossing supplies including the Ranger Embossing Puffs which are gorgeous and give a flocked effect. Your Scrapware heart will come in two bits – the solid bit at the back, and the matching filigree heart for the front.

I simply covered the solid heart in the polka dot Imaginisce paper, then tied the painted and embossed filigree heart over the top with black ribbon. You can bling up the heart too by adding some sparkly stickles over the top and adhere some rhinestones amongst the filigree pattern.

To carry on with the heart theme I also attached a gorgeous little silver heart locket and mini key charm to the bottom part of the ribbon. (these are the free gift with your first purchase in July)

Spritz some pink stem flowers and Canna lilies with glimmermist and arrange them around the heart adhering them with strong adhesive. To finish off the LO I then added the rhinestone title, some mini pearls, and ruled a very fine border around the outside of my photo and extended it down onto the white patterned paper. This just ties the whole LO together and frames the photo.

Another cool thing to try is grab yourself one of the Ranger Ink blending tools, and using black ink distress the edges of the white polka dot patterned paper.

There is a tutorial on ink blending tool in the Tutorial section under Resources of my2angels if you haven’t used one of these must have tools before! I did one thing a little differently on this LO too, instead of adding journaling to the main page, I chose to journal on a little tag, distress the edges with pink ink and the ink blending tool, and then attach it to the top left hand corner of the LO using a brad, organza ribbon and one of the flowers cropped from the patterned paper. Therefore the tag can be pulled to the front of the LO if you wish to read the journaling, then simply tucked back in behind the LO.

My Wedding with 7gypsies

I wanted to keep the theme of my wedding album really simple allowing the photos and the memories of the day to show through.

The Black and White theme of this month therefore suited my wedding album beautifully and on this LO I chose to let the patterned paper do the talking both for title and journaling.  The 7 gypsies Adore paper was perfect.

To make the flower embellishment here I cut 2 circles in varying sizes moving from largest to smallest.  Between the patterned paper circles I used plain black cardstock circles so that when they were layered over each other, the words embedded within the 7 gypsies paper really jumped out at you.
To add extra dimension and interest, I distressed the edges of the circles with decorative scissors, edge distresser and smudges of black ink using the ink blending tool.
I then embellished the flower with Scrapware chipboard vines which were embossed with silver metallic embossing powder and placed in various spots around the flower so that is formed a enlarged photo corner-type shape.
Finally, I tied both white and black organza around the bottom vine into a bow, adhered one single black rhinestone flower in the centre of the patterned paper flower and balanced the LO with a rhinestone photo corner on the top left hand corner of the photo.
To do this simply cut the corner of one the my 2 Angels rhinestone squares to form a photo corner.

Have fun!

Her first bath

Tracy from my2angels has asked me to be Guest Designer for the month of July and of course I jumped at the chance especially with the theme being Black and White - perfect opportunity to scrap some of my wedding photos and this photo of my husband bathing our first child an image I am so grateful to have captured as my journalling states ...

On this layout I have used the gorgeously bold Teresa Collins Chic Bebe papers with white CS as the base and black CS as a photo mount.

Before mounting the photo onto the black however I did use the TC pink ledger paper and cut the mount with decorative scissors

For the title and journaling spot I simply cut the frames that I wanted to use from the Chic Bebe mini tags paper and distressed them using the ink blending tool and black ink.

You will see that I have done this distress technique right throughout the layout to help blend the papers and embellishments together.

On the journaling spot I have also added some pearls and rhinestones for a bit of girly bling.  In the bottom left corner of the photos I created a little embellishment cluster using one of the pink felt hearts, pink canna lilly, and a fleur de lis charm that I altered using the ink blending tool and Cherry pink StazOn ink.

Up in the top right hand corner I used two different pattered papers from the Chic Bebe range and made a layered photo corner, the underneath one of which I cut using scallop decorative scissors and distressed the edges again with Black Soot ink and the blending tool.

To add a bit of texture and bling in this spot I ran a line of dimensional magic around the edge of the pink and black polka dot paper, then sprinkled some gorgeous Diamond Dust all over.  Sprinkle this rather generously then give it a few minutes to set.

After that you can gently remove the excess with a cotton bud of soft paint brush making sure you sweep the excess away from your dimensional magic which will still need more time to dry.

Finally, to tie the whole LO together, I ruled a fine black outline using black gel pen and adhered two fleur de lis shapes to the top left hand corner of the LO.  These were cropped from the Chic Bebe Fleur de Lis paper.  Add a bit of dimensional magic to these and to the word “Bebe” in the title and you are done!

Back on Line

Well it is now June and although I promised to keep up to date with blogging, life escaped me again.  Busy few months with kids, organising going back to study which starts next week, Scrapalatte, cleaning houses for cash etc etc.  Meant to have had first Scrapalatte session tonight bu too short notice and the Scrapbook and Papercraft Convention is on next weekend so didn't want to compete with that.  So far this month nothing major to report, Tane had pirate day last week at school then had his best mate Rhiley come over for the afternoon.  So gorgeous the pair of them...check it out!
They had the best day and afternoon.  It was their first "play date" and they had an absolute ball.  So much so that Tane then went over to Rhiley's house on Sunday afternoon.  Great mates already!!
Tomorrow Tane has a footy carnival at Helensvale - 3 games which should be interesting.  The girls and I will be helping at the canteen and BBQ and then hopefully come home in the afternoon for some scrapping and organisation for Scrapalatte.

Can't leave this post without adding this gorgeous photo of Saige going to the Circus theme disco a few weeks ago.  She looked absolutely stunning as the Ringleader....

Tane's 1st Easter Hat Parade

Friday 26th March 2010.

Today was Tane' s first ever Easter Hat Parade. There is just something so cute about a sea of young faces painted with pink bunny noses and whiskers wearing home made hats of various sizes and shapes singing Easter songs!  It was so gorgeous.  The best part I think was seeing Tane's face light up when he saw Jason and I there.  It was the first thing he looked for when they got to the dome. Check this out...his little face literally popping out of the crowd looking for us.
How gorgoeus. Mind you he progressed to get in trouble for talking, removed from his spot in the line and sat next to Julia for the remainder of the parade!!  He was so excited though and we are now on the countdown to Easter morning.  Here are a few more pics from the day - love the ones of him & Brookie...

Bootcamp Done!

Well this week saw the completion of Bootcamp 2010.  25 Layouts in 6 weeks!!!  Well two of them were doubles actually so that makes it officially 27 layouts.  Proud of myself....YES.  Moreso because I made myself use all photos that I already have in my stash and promised NOT to print any new ones out.  I achieved that, and considering I usually don't work from sketches, I really enjoyed doing just that.  Had a ball and was really pleased with how they turned out.  Today was Tane's second ever footy match (can't remember the score but hew scored a try and did and outstanding tackle to save a try) and Sienna's first ever offical swimming lesson.  My goodness.....did she scream the joint down?  YES, absolutely!  Anyone would think she had never been near water before.  I couldn't help but take a few pictures mid-scream!
What a classic...poor little thing was beside herself.  Anyway, better next time although I think it will be worse cause she knows what she is going for.  Small sacrifice for a life saving skill though....

Simpsons Line up!

14th Feb 2010.
Could not resist taking this photo.  Yet another rainy day at home saw Sienna occupy herself with the Simpsons chess pieces.  She was ever so quiet and had a fantastic time arranging and rearranging the people pieces into different shapes.  This one she was so proud of and she demanded that I come and have a look.

Arrival of the bus pass & departure of Precious!

Well, today is Saturday and it is still pouring with rain!  We have had an insane amount of rain over the past few weeks.  Tane was meant to have his first footy game for the year today at Mudgeeraba would you believe but fields are too soggy which means three kids indoors....for the whole day!  Had an upsetting start to the day today as "precious" the bearded dragon that we had found on the road during the week has disappeared.  Poor Saige was devastated.  My only hope is that she got out and was not 'facilitated'out of the bucket by a rat or other slithery creature!  What to do now with the box of live crickets that we have down there...hmmm.  Yesterday was a momentus day in Tane's life, yes the BUS PASS finally arrived!  You have no idea, this has been like waiting for christmas.  He literally slept with it last night and is holding now as I type.  He is actually asking how many sleeps till he goes back to school on Monday!  Due to the weather there is not much doing to day I imagine.  I am about 9 LO's away from finishing Bootcamp with Blue Bazaar so that looks like a good option for a rainy day.  OK...shall be back but that is it for now.

Our new Saige!

Wow, been busy since last blog. It seems that despite my best intentions I cannot get on the computer and update everyday but it's a start and maybe like a good wine I'll get better with time. I have narrowed it down to the need to establish a habit. I am pretty good with habits so once its in the routine...it's there to stay. Some pretty significant things have gone on since last blog. Firstly, upon telling saige that she needed a haircut before school going back she confidently told me that she wanted it all chopped off! "Really ?" I said, "Are you sure?" To which she answered "Yes Mum, when can we do it?" And true to her word she did not falter. Even though many people questioned her, she never wavered and I admire her self confidence for it. Not to mention the fact that she simply looked stunning. Such a big change and it made her look so grown up! Stop it....no more growing up. Here are some photos of the tranformation.

A New Start

OK...this is it! Yes a new start for 2010, and one that includes making time each day or week to maintain a blog and gallery. It is one of my NY's resolutions and one that I intend to keep. I have created other blogs on other sites but have somehow managed to fall behind on the upkeep of them. Either too buys with kids, too tired, to mentally drained or simply too overwhelmed to sit down and take time out to record stuff. Which is odd considering my passion for scrapbooking and recording what goes on in my family on a daily basis. I have analysed this in my mind and have some to the conclusion that I either rely on my memory (which is failing with each pending birthday!!), or the cool feature on digital cameras that cleverly records date details with each photo captured. Yes...the whole "the date is on the camera" mentality has to go, and as of this moment....it is outta here! Also, as the kids get older I know that they will be all over these new fangled things like twitter, blogs, on line this and on line that, so I didn't want to be archaic in my knowledge or approach and leave myself wide open for the "Oh come on Mum, get with it" comments.
So here it is, a start! Whether it be to record kid stuff, their achievements, their mishaps and funny stories, or to share photos and layouts with friends and family, I am committed to it. Starting with today. When Jason got home from work this morning (he is a fireman) Tane decided to kit up in Jason's gear! Gorgeous...a taste of things to come maybe....not so sure! But as Saige chimed in I couldn't help but grab for the camera. Sporty spice (a.k.a Sienna) also got in on the act however was happy to remain in her own ensemble!!
